Sooo sundays ride went tits up and I have been at a hospital since.

Kinja'd!!!

( The last photo of the daytona that I currently have)

The extent of my injuries are:

fractured T1 to T9

Internal brain bleeding

Fractured ribs

fractured shoulder blades.

All in all. The fact that I bounced off a guardrail pole at speed shows the importance of good gear.

In this case, im going to hand it to my lid and my jacket. While a lid is better then no lid, the SNELL rated bell race star i had on certianly did its job protecting my noggin.

The second bit of gear that I credit my life to is the aigbag jacket I was wearing. That 2cm layer of pressurized CO2 that grabbed me once I went down lessed my bounce off the ground and 100% kept me from splitting my spine in 2 on the post.

Now, to make this clear, im not paid or endorsed by these two companies whatsoever. I am simply bored, and kept awake by a hospital roommate that snores like a mack truck on a jake brake.

WILL I BE BACK ON A BIKE?

dam fucking straight I will. Insurance and cost of replacing my daytona will be major factors. But I will ride again.

Ama I guess.

First thought is of a 899 panigale or an r1.

Though I will miss that triple dearly

I’m assuming you rode the bike into the post...if the bike rode you into the post then I’m going to want one of those jackets soonest because I will be indestructible!!!

Also...if you are bruised then you might be a Blue Peter...

Fears and i nhibitions off: c an prime Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez set a record lap at Isle of Man, assuming they’re on GP bikes?

I think I speak for all of Oppo when I say that we’re glad you’re still with us. I’d like to learn from the mistake that put you there. Did you hit some leaves or gravel? Did someone else cross the centerline? Did you just come in too hot on an unfamiliar corner?

No matter what, I’m glad you plan to get back on a bike. I live vicariously through you and the other guys who ride. Perhaps I’ll get another motorcycle someday, but it isn’t happening anytime soon. So, I have to enjoy it through friends.

Hopefully the insurance will cover all of the protective gear as well as the bike. You’ve proven how valuable it is.

Damn glad you’re still with us and your gear did it’s job...that airbag suit is mighty impressive!

I’m headed out for computer work for the day, but are they expecting you to make a relatively full recovery at this point?

Gotta say that it  doesn’t sound like you have too much luck. Thankfully you had the gear to make up for it.

Insurance will be the biggest thing holding you back from riding on the road again. I betcha that after this, full coverage on anything bigger than a Grom will cost more than the bike itself for a year.

Just ride trackdays instead and get your biking fix concentrated there.

As bad as things sound for you, glad to hear that it wasn’t worse!

Congrats on being alive! That sounds sarcastic, but let’s face it (you said it yourself): the safety gear you had on saved you from the Grim Reaper. With any luck, the bones will heal, the scars will fade, and you’ll have a great story to tell down the road.

Get better, and stay away from the Corona during your hospital stay.

I managed to break my collarbone playing flag (American) football in elementary school so I don’t think I could get off anywhere near that easily

Glad you alive. Been wondering how you're doing since I saw your insta post. Glad you're planning on getting back on a bike after recovery. Any idea how long recovery will take? Do you have any pics of the bike after the wreck?

So did that use 7 or 8 of your 9 lives?  If I ever get back on 2 wheels, some of that newfangled gear like that jacket will be on my list.  Glad you’re intact and upbeat.

Classic lowside scenario. Again, I’m glad to see you’re pulling through. If you’re up this early, the nurses must have just finished their morning visit. Gotta love those. “I’m just here to check your vitals. Get your rest now.” Roughly translates to “I’m just here to torture you by dragging you back to consciousness from the light sleep you just fell into after my last visit an hour ago.”

Kinja'd!!! bob and john > TheRealBicycleBuck

Their visits arent quite that often. 4 x a day.

Kinja'd!!! TheRealBicycleBuck > bob and john

Kinja'd!!!1

The worst time I’ve had in a hospital included nearly a week of no food (they wanted to keep me “clean” for surgery) and hourly visits from a nurse to check vitals.

Scratch that, the worst time I’ve had in a hospital was when my mom was extremely sick from cancer. On top of the emotional trauma, some enterprising young fellow snatched my phone  while I was catnapping in the visitor’s lounge.
